Hong Kong Disneyland is located on the Lantau Island which was ranked as a top amusement park in Southeast Asia also this is a top tourist attraction in Hong Kong which attracts millions of tourists a year. The estimated cost of building Hong Kong Disneyland is $14.1 billion. The park consists of seven themed areas: Main Street, U.S.A., Fantasyland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, and Toy Story Land. This article is quite lengthier but a very interesting too.
Main Street, U.S.A
Hong Kong Disneyland's Main Street, U.S.A. serves as the entrance of the park which is inspired by the main street, USA in Disneyland which extends from the Park Entrance at Hong Kong Disneyland all the way to Sleeping Beauty Castle, Fantasyland. This was mainly built by wood instead of stone. At the entrance you will be greeted by the Mickies, and once after finishing your security check Hong Kong Disney Railroad is the first thing you'll see. This is regular at all Disney parks and one of the best ways to get an overview of the entire building complex also goes through all the lands and gives you the grand circle tour of the grounds. Animation Academy is an attraction itself is a drawing session with a Disney animator conducts the step-by-step sessions to the guests to draw a Disney character. Guests may take their own artwork home after the drawing session. Art of Animation is a place to discover how the animation is born from sketches and drawings, and how it all comes together in the movies which also includes a stunning Toy Story Zoetrope and rare artifacts. Main Street Vehicles is where the visitors can move up and down via old-style motorized vehicles from the Town Square. There are no horse-drawn carriages at Disney Hong Kong as like in the other Disney parks, although tracks for the streetcars can be seen from early conceptual arts. City Hall can be find on the left of the entrance where both the City Hall and Town Square are Guest Services Hub which provides service to the visitors like ATM machines, Money Exchange, also provide Park's Guide Map, Times Guide (to check show and parades times), Lost and Found, and the stroller and wheelchair rental as well. Guide maps are printed in traditional and simplified Chinese as well as English, Japanese, Thai, Malay and Indonesian. At guest services in City Hall, visitors can make reservations for the restaurants in the park too. Disney in the Stars is the nightly fireworks performance at the Hong Kong Disneyland theme park with the Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background. Main Street also offers other facilities like The Baby Care Center and Lost Children, Where Lost Children’s are taken with high care and hand over to the respective persons and the Baby Care Center is equipped with diaper-changing, bottle warming and feeding room facilities.
It is at the heart of the Hong Kong Disneyland and it boasts the most prominent Disney trademark Sleeping Beauty's Castle, this castle is more similar to the Disneyland which is in Anaheim, California. Here isn't much to do, visitor can take a walk and this is one of the excellent photogenic spot in Disneyland. Whole castle will be lit up in the evening which makes the castle wonderful to view and snap a picture. And moreover, this act as an excellent background for Disney in the Stars (Fireworks show). If you visit this castle during any festive season, lots of interesting things can be spotted in this castle and the castle itself will be decorated in many style and it'll be a big feast for your eyes. Cinderella's Carousel comprises of merry-go-round. You will find the Carousel as soon as you go through the Castle, there will be a wooden horses which moves up and down which is designed to accommodate all ages. Like Cinderella's Carousel, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Mad Hatter Tea Cups are ready give the kids and elders a pleasant experience. Wish to meet Pooh and the rest of the clan, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga and Roo, Rabbit? Then, The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is a right place, this is simply a ride that will take you through the Hundred Acre Woods on a journey in search for that elusive honey pot. It's a Small World in Hong Kong Disneyland is a water-based ride located in the Fantasyland area considered as one of the largest indoor attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. The ride features over 300 audio-animatronic dolls in traditional costumes from cultures around the world, frolicking in a spirit of international unity and singing the attraction's title song, which has a theme of global peace. Small World in Hong Kong Disneyland is located beyond the railroad track circle. Introduction of Disney Characters into the attraction is a special feature of Hong Kong Disneyland, there are 38 Disney characters, and they all blend in quite well with the existing figurines, they have all been placed in the continent of their origins. This version also features an expanded Asia sequence, a Middle Eastern Room, and a new scene for North America. The Finale Room features extraordinary fiber-optic lighting effects not seen on any other Disney attraction. The song is sung in Cantonese, Mandarin, English, Korean and Tagalog, languages which are unique to Hong Kong Disneyland's version. The finale is sung in 3 languages: Cantonese, English and Mandarin. Mickey's Philharmagic is a 4-D film attraction found in Fantasyland where one can experience the massive effects coming in all directions. Fantasy Gardens is a beautifully landscaped gardens where you/your children can meet the favorite Disney Characters like Mickey, Minnie and their whole clan. They are also ready to take a photo or selfie with you, even official photographers are also there to take you a picture with mickey and will sell it back to you! Snow White Grotto is a tribute to Walt Disney's first full-length animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The grotto includes statues of Snow White, the seven dwarfs, and a few woodland creatures. Snow White is standing at the top of a cascading waterfall. Guests can throw a coin and make a wish in front of the grotto, the proceeds of which go to local children's charities.
Fantasyland Station is one of the four stations where guests can board the Disneyland Railroad for a round trip tour of the park. The station is simply but cheerfully and detail, rich designed - fitting perfectly into the atmosphere of Fantasyland where the ride gives you totally an enjoyable experience. Fairy Tale Forest is a walk through attraction located in Fantasyland at Hong Kong Disneyland on December 17, 2015, as part of its 10th anniversary celebration. Fairy Tale Forest will let guests walk through a winding, living storybook realm based on Disney fairy tales. Using creative landscaping, these whimsical passages will feature miniature scenes from “Tangled,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Cinderella” and “The Little Mermaid.” The forest will also be home to Tinker Bell where she will greet guests in Pixie Hollow. Sword in the Stone is an attraction at several Disney parks. The attraction is based on Disney film The Sword in the Stone in 1963. The attraction is performed by wizard Merlin who invites the guests to pull the sword out in the performance. In addition park guest may also snap a photo of themselves or others trying to pull the sword out of the stone when the show is not in progress.
Frontierlands are home to cowboys and pioneers, saloons, red rock buttes and gold rushes themed to the American Old West of the 19th century. Frontierland is one of the themed lands at the many Disneyland-style parks run by Disney around the world. Grizzly Gulch in Hong Kong Disneyland was opened as the park's equivalent to Frontierland. But, Grizzly Gulch is much smaller compared to the "Frontierlands" of other Disney Parks. Here you can find Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale in their Old Wild West costumes. This is located in the western side of the park and it features Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, Grizzly Gulch Welcome Wagon and Geyser Gulch. Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars is a steel roller coaster in the Grizzly Gulch where with plenty of surprises along the way. Coming to the Geyser Gulch, The entire town of Grizzly Gulch has been built on an "active geyser basin" reminiscent of the world-famous Yellowstone National Park, in fact, you will see the erupting geysers much like Old Faithful and the turquoise pools that are the park's signature attractions. The geysers at Geyser Gulch though are cool and refreshing, surprise spurts are specially welcome in the hot summer months. Welcome Wagon Show is the performance of music with little dance, as a small group of the people are there to show the true western hospitality, of course you'll have fun here at this show also never miss the Lucky Nugget Saloon a place where you can enjoy different kind of snacks. At Grizzly Gulch there is a place for a photoshoot where you can also picture yourself in one of 3 “wanted” posters or an empty cell at the old jail and take home the picture for a pleasant memory of Disneyland in Hong Kong!
Hong Kong Disneyland's Adventureland is the biggest among all Disney parks it features some of the attractions like Festival of the Lion King, Jungle River Cruise, Raft to the Tarzan's Treehouse, Tarzan's Tree House & Liki Tikis. The Festival of the Lion King is fantastic, the music, the acrobatics, the costumes, the stage, the choreography, the interaction with the public, it all combines to offer a truly spectacular production. The play is based in the Lion King movie which tells the story of Simba. It is mainly in English and subtitles in Chinese are projected on the screens with little snippets in Cantonese. The Jungle River Cruise is one of the coolest rides in the park. Your safari guide takes you on a river adventure through the jungles of the world, from the Amazonas to the Okavango and the Mekong delta. Safari guides are provided for English, Mandarin and Cantonese explorers, and there will be separate lines for each language. Weather conditions are treacherous so be prepared. To get to Tarzan's Treehouse first you have to take a Raft to the Tarzan's Treehouse which will bring you to the island. Where in this Treehouse you have to climb on foot and there are bridges and small chambers where you recognize little details from the Tarzan movie. The view from the top of the tree is spectacular and must experience one! Liki Tikis is designed as an interactive fountain featuring totem poles that spray water mists at guests to cool them down, especially during the hot Hong Kong weather. The interactive fountain also provides a water element that is for the park's good luck in the Chinese art of Feng Shui.
This is Hong Kong Disneyland’s most popular spot amongst kids, the prevalent theme is adventure in space and into the future. It features Autopia, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Orbitron, Push the Talking Trash Can, Space Mountain, Stitch Encounter and UFO Zone. Autopia, as it features electric cars with lighting effects and an onboard audio system where you are responsible for your own electric car and you'll have lot of fun. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters in Tomorrowland shooting dark rides based on the Disney/Pixar film Toy Story 2. This is considered as a very popular ride in Tomorrowland. The Astro Orbiter is a rocket-spinner attraction where you get to pilot your own flying saucer and control how high or low you go, it's a nice mild ride. Push the Talking Trash Can is a radio-controlled robot which makes daily rounds throughout Tomorrowland which entertain the visitor in Tomorrowland. Space Mountain is a fast, thrilling ride, in the dark, with sudden turns, drops and bends. The ride starts at the Space Port where you board your Spacecraft, two space travelers can ride side by side, as opposed to other Space Mountain shuttles where you ride one behind the other. It is another most popular rides at all Disney parks where many kids love to spend their time here. Stitch Encounter is an interactive show located in Tomorrowland where all guests are seated in a movie theater-like room, called the Space Traffic Control and Stitch (fictional character) will entertain all in the screen even it can interact with guests in many ways such as chatting, singing them a song with his ukulele and even take their pictures. UFO Zone is a play area where you can take a break and "refresh" yourself with the many water squirting space vehicles and figures.
Mystic Point is located in the western side of the park between Toy Story Land and Grizzly Gulch. Mystic Manor, Garden of Wonders & Mystic Point Freight Depot are the three main attraction in Mystic Point. Mystic Manor is Lord Henry's Victorian mansion which houses his extensive collection of antiquities and paraphernalia from his many travels around the world to faraway places. Guests can watch a slide show narrated by Lord Mystic. He gives a short speech about the exhibition rooms and his latest collections. After the presentation, guests enter the loading area and board Henry's Mystic Magneto-Electric Carriages, the special vehicles he invented to take them on a tour of the museum where the carriage will come across various rooms (Acquisitions and Cataloguing Room, Music Room, Mediterranean Antiquities, Solarium Room, Arms & Armour, Egyptian Antiquities, Tribal Arts & Chinese Salon) and Albert, Henry's adorable pet will also accompany you on your ride. Garden of Wonders that features sculptures that could cast an optical 3D illusion by viewing from a certain angle/distance. Mystic Point Freight Depots where you can snap a photo with exotic artifacts such as a stone head of Poseidon, an Egyptian bas-relief of Isis and a Mayan carving of King Pacal.
Toy Story Land
This theme is based on Pixar's Toy Story movie series, and in this fun backyard you are surrounded by alphabet letters, tinker toys monkeys, soldiers, blocks and naturally, all of Andy's friends, Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Rex, Bullseye, Hamm, Slinky, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. The attractions includes Barrel of Fun, RC Racer, Slinky Dog Spin and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop. Barrel of Fun is a place where you can posing for pictures with Woody, Jessie and friends. RC Racer is a steel shuttle roller coaster where this ride takes inspiration from Mattel's popular Hot Wheels line of toy cars, which come paired with the orange track as seen in the Toy Story films. Climbing aboard the huge remote-controlled RC car, riders are propelled forwards and backwards through the station building in a semi-circular "half pipe" of track, quickly building up enough speed to hit the top height of almost 80 feet (24 meters). Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin is a Caterpillar-style ride where slinky is Andy's springy dachshund toy that stretches, coils, tangles and untangles. And here, he spins and chases his tail, taking you along for the ride. Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop is a para tower, a parachute jump–style ride. Based on the scene in the original Toy Story 3 film when the Green Army Men are the recon masters in charge of reporting the new birthday presents that Andy and Molly get. They climb and hide on a plant or the Christmas tree to carry out their mission. Toy Soldier Parachute Drop will lift you to the sky and then drop you as you parachute down as Andy's Green Army Men did in Toy Story 3 when they parachuted out the window. A troop of Six Soldiers share one parachute in Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop at Toy Story Land.
